The goal of our RECESS Ambassador social media takeovers is simple: to showcase the daily lives of our student Ambassadors all across the country.  Our social media channels have a very diverse audience including prospective and current ambassadors, alumni, community members and our brand partners. Our takeovers give followers a genuine view of what student life is like as a RECESS Ambassador.

  • Start by introducing yourself.

    • Where are you from?

    • Where do you go to school?

    • What are you studying?

  • Show us how you are spending your summer or school year.

  • Share a day in the life of you. Show off why being at your college is awesome!

  • Share with other RECESS Ambassadors that go to your school. Tag friends that you are hanging with from your campus.

  • Share off your school’s events - concerts, basketball, football, dance marathons, etc.

  • Show us your school pride!

  • Show us how you like to have fun (nothing that we would frown upon)

  • Show us your friends, fraternity/sorority members, family, and other interesting people in your life!

  • Show us your campus - iconic places on campus, favorite food places, etc

  • Talk about why you are excited to be a member of the RECESS community!

  • Share a fun experience you had with RECESS!

    • Did you win a giveaway?

    • Did you participate in a campaign?

Content that is NEVER Acceptable:

  • Hateful, threatening or stereotyping comments. This includes “jokes.”

  • Violent Behavior and obscene language

  • Partying, drinking, drugs (think of if a brand would want to sponsor this content)

  • Nudity or sexual content

  • Overtly political content such as protests, petitions, student elections, etc.

  • Commercial content - whether it is your business or someone else’s

  • Criticism of a specific person or organization

  • Content featuring or including children

  • Content featuring or including people who would not want or expect their photo/video to be shared. (Embarrassing moments, unflattering angles, private events, sensitive topics.)

Be Transparent

Be honest about who you are and fully disclose your position with RECESS. It is never acceptable to deceive people. Do not say anything that is dishonest, untrue, or misleading. If you have a vested interest in something you are discussing, point it out. But also be smart about protecting yourself and your privacy. What you publish will be around for a long time, so consider the content carefully and be cautious about disclosing personal information.

 Be Professional

Be respectful of the diversity of our audience — all individuals, races, religions and cultures. How you conduct yourself in the online social media space not only reflects on you — it is also a direct reflection on RECESS. The nature of social media often gravitates toward a more casual and relaxed tone, but it’s important to keep your communications professional, just as you would strive to do in emails or other business messages.

No Endorsements

Any advertising, promotion or overtly favorable acknowledgement or endorsement of third-party products and services is not permitted.

When In Doubt, Do Not Post

RECESS Ambassadors are personally responsible for their words and actions. As online spokespeople, you must ensure that your posts are completely accurate and not misleading, and that they do not reveal non-public information about RECESS. Exercise sound judgment and common sense, and if there is any doubt, DO NOT POST. It’s not okay to disclose anything that contains confidential, proprietary, personal or private information about RECESS, its employees, students, affiliates, vendors or suppliers.

Respect Copyright Laws

It is critical that you show proper respect for the laws governing copyright and fair use of copyrighted material owned by others.

Quality matters

The speed of being able to publish your thoughts is both a great feature and a great downfall of social media. The time to edit or reflect must be self-imposed.  If you are uncertain about a post, take some time to identify any questions before publishing.  You may wish to have someone else review it so that you have an outside opinion.
